Well Folks, its 7 days until spring! I took this picture of this cute little Tufted Titmouse today... The weather is getting warmer, you may ask: do I continue feeding birds in the spring and into the summer months? I personally don't feed the birds during the spring and summer months, there are plenty of seeds growing in the spring... the summer holds plenty of bugs and weed seeds that birds enjoy.. How do I stop feeding the birds? don't stop feeding the birds cold turkey, gradually stop feeding them. Lessening the food in the winter months going into the spring and summer months.. Do I still feed suet? they do make all year suet, and if you still want to do at least suet or a seed cake you can.. I would not recommend feeding suet or seed cake in the summer if you live in a really hot climate.. Water is a must all year.. making sure you have a fresh supply of water is important for birds to drink and bath.. ~WhitneyUnknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2225657677246454912.post-53477072331143949992014-11-19T10:05:00.001-08:002014-11-19T10:05:08.111-08:00Winters Coming On!I know it has been awhile since I posted on this blog.. But just checking in. Winter is just a month or so away.. :) just this past week I have started to feed the birds again.. Looking forward to the winter season. Means snow, and birds. Be sure to check the past post on this blog for the bark butter recipe so you can make it for your fine feathered friends.. :) remember to put out suet, and plenty of fresh water. Food is important since birds and animals have a hard time finding food for themselves when there is snow on the ground.. Here the temps have been down in the teens. With no snow yet. Some places in the U.S have gotten snow already. So, go out and get some bird food!!!! and plenty of suet and make some bark butter.. :)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2225657677246454912.post-10403161424966213692014-08-25T06:13:00.003-07:002014-08-25T06:13:54.102-07:00Just Checking In

Just thought I would drop in and see how things are going.. I have been busy with traveling and missions work that I don't have time enough to post bird pictures. Let alone take pictures of birds.. This picture off to the left was taken in the rollin' hills of West Virginia.. So hopefully meaning that it is getting near fall and getting cooler, I can HOPEFULLY take some pictures of birds again.. Today there was nothing but Cedar Waxwings! tons of them.. I counted at least 7 or 8 at the water bowl today. For such pretty birds they are hard to photograph, they are so skittish! I had to sit all day with camera in hand to get the shots that I did get.. There were also Yellow Rumped Warblers and bluebirds along with the cedar waxwings.. I will post some photos in the photo section of this blog.. Hope you enjoy! lots of waxwing pictures. ~Whitney

On a half way rainy day with some sun here and there, Squirrels where hoping about and eating peanuts.. I didn't get a chance to bird watch, but decided to take a few shots of squirrels and the occasional blue jay here and there.. Birds where out, feeding on the feeders. I will post some more pictures of the squirrels and birds. ~Whitney

Since December I have not been able to bird watch or take any bird pictures.. It has been very cold. So this New Year is not kicking off the birding season like I would like it to.. Hoping to get warmer weather soon! one morning it was 9 degrees!! and only in the 20's in the day time!!! that is not good birding weather! although the birds were out; I bought them some nut and berry mix that day when it was so cold.. and they really love it.. I get that every year for them to eat on the side of suet and regular bird food.. Woodpeckers like it too.. Don't forget to check out the Facebook page to this blog! link is on the right hand side of the blog (Whitney's Bird Page) or just type it into the Face Book search bar.. Plenty of Guess That Bird and photos!! Anyways, I hope to get out there and take pictures soon!!! ~Whitney

Its pouring down rain here in NC! I spotted this little Yellow Bellied Sapsucker keeping dry under a big limb on a tree.. poor lil' feller!! At least he's pretty smart to know to keep dry. I wish I could of gotten the rain drops more.. I guess it was raining so hard that it became a blur.. ~Whitney
